Customising date formats in Qwil Messenger can help you tailor your experience to match your preferences. You can display dates in a format that is familiar and comfortable for you. Whether you prefer the month/day/year or day/month/year format, we've got you covered. This guide will walk you through the simple steps to configure your date format settings.
What to expect?
- By default Qwil Messenger should match your system's date formatting preferences.
- It is possible that your browser preferences differ from your system's preferences. If that is the case you will need to manually configure your browser's preferences.
To configure your date format:
On Chrome browser:

Open Chrome: Launch the Google Chrome web browser on your computer.

Access Chrome Settings:
- Click on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the Chrome window to open the menu.
- From the dropdown menu, select "Settings."

On the left-hand side menu, click on Languages. Or use the search bar at the top and search for "Language"

In the Preferred language section choose your language. This will also configure your region and date format. In this example we have selected English UK which will render dates as dd/mm/yyyy.

Restart Chrome (recommended): In some cases, you may need to restart your Chrome browser for the changes to take effect. Close and reopen Chrome to ensure your selected date format is applied.
- Verify the Changes. To confirm that your changes have taken effect, navigate to any part of the application where dates are displayed, such as chat timestamps. You should now see dates in your chosen format.
On Firefox browser:

- Click on the three horizontal lines (hamburger menu) in the top-right corner of the Firefox window to open the menu.
- From the dropdown menu, select "Settings."

- In the "Language and Appearance" section, locate the "Languages" option.
- Click the "Choose..." button next to the "Preferred Languages" setting. A new window will appear.

- In the "Choose a display language" window, you can add or remove languages as needed. Move languages up or down according to your preference. This will also configure your region and date format. In this example we have selected English UK which will render dates as dd/mm/yyyy.

Save Changes. Click the "OK" button to save your changes and close the "Choose a display language" window.
