Enable Qwil notifications so you never miss an important message. You can enable notifications on both web and desktop apps. For mobile notifications click on this link for support.
What to expect:
- On web/desktop there are 2 types of notifications:
- Browser notifications: they appear when you are not focused on your Qwil web/desktop
- In-app notifications: they appear when you are focused on your Qwil web/desktop and you a receive a message to a different chat.
- You can choose to enable one or both types of notifications.
To enable notifications:
- When you first open Qwil Messenger you will see a banner on the top of the screen asking you to allow Qwil to send you notifications.
- Click on enable desktop notifications
- You will see a pop-up on the left-hand side of the screen asking for your permission to show notifications from Qwil. Click on Allow.
- By default, in-app notifications are enabled, but you can disable them by clicking on the gear of an in-app notification or by navigating to Account and Settings - Notifications and unselecting 'Show in-app alerts when I receive new messages'.
Tip: You can also enable notifications from your Alerts menu:
To re-activate browser notifications:
From a Chrome browser:
- Click on the padlock icon on the left of the address bar
- Click on the dropdown menu next to notifications and select Allow
- You should now be able to receive desktop notifications.
From a Firefox browser:
- Click on the padlock icon on the left of the address bar
- Click on the x button next to Send notifications
- Reload the page.
- You will see a banner on the top of the screen asking you to allow Qwil to send you notifications.
- Click on enable desktop notifications
- You will see a pop-up on the left-hand side of the screen asking for your permission to show notifications from Qwil. Click on Allow.
- You should now be able to receive desktop notifications.
From a Safari browser:
- Open Safari, then in the main menu select Safari then Preferences.
- In the new window, click the Websites tab at the top, then select Notifications in the side column.
- This will bring up a list of websites that have asked you permission to show alerts. On the right-hand side of each site is a dropdown box with options to Allow or Deny permission.
- Find Qwil Messenger in that list and click Allow.
- You should now be able to receive desktop notifications.
On the desktop app:
- For Mac OS
- Click the Apple menu, select System Preferences
- Click on Notifications.
- On the left menu, select Qwil.
- Make sure that Allow notifications from Qwil is enabled and either Banners or Alerts is selected.
- You should now be able to receive desktop notifications.
For Windows 10:
In Windows 10, action centre is where to find your app notifications, as well as quick actions, which give you quick access to commonly used settings and apps. Change your action centre settings at any time from the Settings app.

Select the Start button, and then select Settings .

Go to System > Notifications & actions.

Choose the quick actions you'll see in action centre.

Turn notifications, banners, and sounds on or off for some or all notification senders.

Choose whether to see notifications on the lock screen.

Choose whether to see notifications when you're duplicating your screen.

Turn tips, tricks, and suggestions about Windows on or off.
